Little Jo's Doll Party - Cindy gets a New Fall Jacket and skirt

Cindy Came to us from Ebay,  she was adopted along with her older sister Becky.  Both have been patiently waiting for clothes for school and most of all, a Halloween Costume.  It seems there will be a Halloween party next week and all of the dolls want to go.  Cindy is very quiet and undemanding, it would be easy to overlook her in the crowd of all of the others.  We try to keep her in mind at all times because of this.  Cindy had a pair of green polka dot pants and a colorful striped shirt made for her right away which we have not shared yet and she now has new shoes to wear about as we go out shopping.  Cindy watched as we picked a pattern for her jacket.

We used a Simplicity Pattern.   We copied the jacket pieces and reduced them to 90% of the original pattern size. We used this pattern to make the leggings too (at regular size).

Our fabric for the outer shell of the jacket was from a green cloth napkin bought at Marc's.  The lining was cut from material included in a bag of fabric remnants from The Volunteers Of America.

We bought the bag of remnants on the last Tuesday of September at the monthly half price sale.
A tee, leggings and skirt were made to go with the jacket too.
The tee and leggings were cut from a tee-shirt bought from Marc's as a slightly imperfect shirt for $1.39.

The skirt was made from three different remnant pieces and a piece of remnant lace.  The skirt did not come out as well as we would have liked and may go through a redo in the future.

Little Jo has not taken off her Halloween costume all week, she even wore it out to the pumpkin farm.

A few pictures from the Amish farms where we bought apples, pumpkins, and butter for the fall baking.

Thanks to the generosity of a kind mother and her daughter for donating a bag full of doll clothes and shoes from an American Girl doll to Goodwill last week.  Now all of my dolls have shoes.  In addition to the seven pairs of shoes that were donated there were several AG outfits that will eventually go to one of our grand daughters.

Be Sure to visit JoAnn Here at her Wednesday Wee Ones post  and visit Diane to see what she has made for her dolls this week Here.

Have a wonderful week,
Big Doll Hugs,
Candy

  2. Oh so very cute cute cute - and perfect for Autun. I love the skirt - and the jacket - and the glasses. Cindy is just the cutest ever and such a sweet girl. Little Jo is indeed a ham and she surely does get around - great photos at the pumpkin patch. Now my dolls are going to want to go on outings. Right now they are getting dressed for the Halloween party next week - see you there.

  4. Hello Candy! You did an amazing job with Cindy's outfit. I love everything about it. The jacket is so classy. The skirt is so pretty. I know you are not totally happy with it but to me it is perfect (I wish I could make one like that in the near futur). The colours are so beautiful. Thanks for sharing this beautiful photos of your work with us.

  5. After what you have written, I think Cindy is my favorite. I love the way you have described her personality, maybe because that is kind of my personality. What a charming blog. I love dolls as well. Some of my best memories are of my dolls. Did you sew that jacket? If so you are an excellent seamstress. Each Christmas growing up my mother would buy me a doll and make a box of clothes for the doll. I was always most excited to see the clothing she made as she sewed to perfection and made such lovely clothing. I would always take my doll to Church with me. Wonderful memories. I think it is so wonderful that you have this interest and post about it. I am really enjoying it. By the way I miss your comments on my blog. Wishing you much enjoyment with your newer Blog. I love it. Valerie
